Among these projects, Thu Thiem 2 Bridge is currently underway and is expected to be completed this year. The project has its starting 
point at Ton Duc Thang - Le Duan intersection (District 1), crosses the Saigon River and connects Arc Avenue (route R1) of Thu Thiem urban area. The project is more than 1.4 km long, of which the bridge section is 886 m with 6 lanes. The cable-stayed bridge has a dragon-shaped main tower of 113 m high, leaning towards Thu Thiem.

Groundbreaking in 2015, Thu Thiem 2 bridge project with an investment of VND 3,082 billion, implemented in the form of BT (build - transfer), Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company is the investor. The project is expected to be completed in 2018, but for some reasons, it should be delayed to 2020. However, the project continues to be delayed due to capital problems and about 11,000 m2 of land in District 1 has not been allocated. Currently, the work has reached more than 70% of the volume and is scheduled to be completed in September this year.

Thu Thiem Bridge 2 is considered to play an important role in traffic in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to connecting Thu Thiem New Urban Area with the city center, the project also helps reduce congestion at the intersection of Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Huu Canh and Le Thanh Ton streets. Simultaneously with the artistic lighting design, the project will be an outstanding architectural highlight on the Saigon River and the symbol of the gateway from the center of Ho Chi Minh City through the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge connects Thu Thiem New Urban Area through District 7, with a total capital of 5,300 billion VND. This is one of 55 key projects recently proposed by the Department of Transport to the City People's Committee to prepare for investment in 2021. The design project starts from the section before the intersection of Tan Thuan bridge. 2 - Nguyen Van Linh, go along Nguyen Van Linh Street, turn left at Huynh Tan Phat intersection to connect to Luu Trong Lu Street (District 7). The bridge continues to cut through Tan Thuan port area, cross the Saigon River to connect Thu Thiem urban area at the intersection of North-South axis and R4 route (delta road).

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge was previously planned to be implemented under a BT contract, but this form has just been removed in the Law on Investment under the method of public-private partnership (PPP). This causes the project to adjust its investment policy and departments in Ho Chi Minh City are studying and proposing to find suitable capital sources for early construction.

When the project is completed, it will not only promote the development of Thu Thiem New Urban Area, but also shorten the travel time from Thu Duc City and Binh Thanh District through districts 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh. The project also contributes to reducing congestion around Ben Nghe ports, Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, Huynh Tan Phat Street in District 7.

The pedestrian bridge crossing the Saigon River is located between Thu Thiem 2 Bridge and the Saigon River Tunnel, connecting Thu Thiem New Urban Area with District 1. It is expected that the foot of the bridge in District 1 will be located in the area of ​​Bach Dang Port Park, near Nguyen Hue pedestrian street. On the side of Thu Thiem New Urban Area, the foot of the bridge is located at the riverside park and outside the boundary of zone A - south of the central square in this urban area.

According to the design plan, the bridge is shaped like a small leaf as a roof, in order to attract people by accessing the landscape of the Saigon River. The pedestrian bridge also connects the park on the opposite side of Ton Duc Thang street and the motorbike parking at both ends for easy access by people. When the project is completed, the design unit proposes that during the day the bridge can organize music festivals, public art, yoga...; at night for outdoor cinema activities, 3D lighting water music projection...

In September 2020, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City basically agreed on this architectural plan. However, the city noted that the project needs to be synchronous and consistent with the regional planning. At the same time, when completed, the bridge is only used for pedestrians and vehicles of people with disabilities; Prohibit all forms of trading and business... Currently, the City People's Committee has assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture to coordinate with stakeholders to complete the design plan for consideration and decision.

In addition to the above three works, in Thu Thiem New Urban Area as planned, the Thu Thiem 3 bridge project connecting through District 4 is being researched and invested. The bridge starts from Ton Dan Street (District 4), crosses Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, crosses the Saigon River to connect Thu Thiem New Urban Area. Five years ago, Ho Chi Minh City assigned a consortium of two companies to research and make investment proposals for the Thu Thiem 3 bridge project; at the same time, expanding and upgrading Ton Dan Street (District 4), but not yet implemented.

Currently, vehicles from Thu Thiem New Urban Area to the city center mainly go through tunnels crossing the Saigon River and Thu Thiem Bridge 1. This is considered a lack of connection and limits economic and social development in the city. both sides, especially Thu Thiem.
